Thank you to Helene of Lumineux Kennels, Victoria, for entrusting Gem to us. Gem was the first of our Big Time winners. She was the start of our serious competition in the show rings and our serious credibility in breeding circles.

Gem was graded EXCELLENT by Breed Specialist judge Mrs M F Berton Saarlat (France) 1996 at the NSW Belgian Specialty.

Gem is now semi-retired from the show ring, making way for her talented children and grandchildren to fill her prolific winning footsteps.

Gem passes on her effervescent, showy and outgoing temperament to all of her beautiful puppies.

Gem's first litter is the Mirribandi "K" litter. Her daughter Grand Champion Mirribandi Kashmyr Dream CD HIT, won over 165 In Groups/ In Show/ Sweepstakes awards and Trophies as at May 2000, when she became one of the elite Belgian Shepherd Grand Champions in Australia. We understand that Kashmyr was the second bitch of all Belgian varieties in Australian history to gain a Grand Championship title, and the ONLY breeder exhibited Grand Champion Belgian in her day in this country. Her wins are also believed to be numbered more than any other Belgian Shepherd of all varieties in Australia in her time!

Another of Gem's daughters, Ch Mirribandi Kiara Vision is also a BEST IN GROUP winner at Championship Show level.

Gem is also the dam of our Mirribandi "O" litter, whelped May 2000. Ch Mirribandi Only Dreaming CD ADX JDX AAD HIT has proven to be a multi All Breeds Class In Group and Class In Show winner, and in the Specialty rings she won Best Groenendael Bitch and Specialty Class In Show. Ch Mirribandi Overture HIT HT PT is also turning heads, winning Res Best Groenendael Dog and Runner Up Best Of Breed and Class In Specialty Show at 9 months of age at his first Specialty show, Dog Challenge Toowoomba Royal 2003, Specialty BEST OF BREED BSDCQ 2004, as well as In Group placements in the All Breeds ring.

 

Gem is the dam of our Mirribandi "K" litter and our Mirribandi "O" litter

Gem lived out her retirement years living with Mark Todd, and her daughter, Kashmyr.  She passed away in October 2008 after her battle with mammary tumours (cancer), and now rests in peace down by the creek, where she used to go for many walks.  She is buried beside Kashmyr, who was put to sleep in December 2008, also with mammary cancer.  These two special girls will always be remembered by all who met them.  Rest in peace, our darlings.
